ATX TELEVISION FESTIVAL 2024

ATX Television Festival is a four-day event that celebrates the television medium: looking back at its history, where it is now, and where it is headed. The festival consists of panels, screenings, and events where attendees and leaders in the TV industry talk, watch, and experience television together as one community.

Heading into their 13th Season, ATX showcases TV’s past, current, and upcoming series through screening Q&As and panel discussions. This programming ranges from never picked up pilots, reunions, current series going into a new season, to premiering content from upfronts, summer, or online. Panel discussions can be 1:1 conversations, featuring a single show, or are focused on a topic that pulls professionals from a variety of shows and features such topics as the ratings system, series finales, and testing/focus groups. And with 50/50 split between fan and industry, ATX Television Festival is a unique festival event that stems from a true celebration of the medium.

AUSTIN PLAYHOUSE: EMMA

Written by Kate Hamill, based on the novel by Jane Austen
Directed by Lara Toner Haddock

Emma Woodhouse prides herself on being a matchmaker with an impeccable track record, much to the chagrin of her dear friend Mr. Knightley. Her latest scheme revolves around the sweet Harriet Smith, whom Emma advises to reject a perfectly good marriage proposal in favor of another eligible bachelor. However, her best-laid plans are turned upside down by unpredictable displays of affection, unexpected rivals and Emma’s sudden realization that true love may have been under her nose all along. With screwball comedy and surprises aplenty, this fresh, fast-paced new adaptation interprets the Jane Austen classic with delightfully unconventional flair.

Age Recommendation: Emma is entertaining for the whole family, but best suited for ages 8+. Children under 5 are not permitted.

Saturday (6/01/24)

“COMMUNITY” ART EXHIBITION

Artist Jieun Beth presents a final art installation of a community art project as part of the Austin Central Library’s annual event, Kids Block Party.

“Community” is a collection of artworks created by individuals from different communities. The artist, Jieun Beth, invited them to participate in her art activity, Stamping Portrait, resulting in hundreds of pieces that will be displayed as prayer flags at the Austin Central Library’s youth balcony. The project follows the Tibetan Buddhists’ tradition of sending out prayers in the wind and aims to spread well-wishing sentiments to everyone while highlighting global issues.

Join us for a vibrant and engaging art installation of our community and the opportunity to participate in the stamping art activity! This in-person event will be held at the Austin Central Library’s Youth Balcony located at 710 W Cesar Chavez St.

The exhibition runs from June 1 to July 1, 2024

This project is supported by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.

The Austin Pancakes & Booze Art Show

The LA based event originated in 2009 and has since popped up more than 500 times in 35+ cities around Europe & North America.

Batter sizzles, beer foams, and canvas lines the walls from ceiling to floor as hundreds, sometimes thousands, of revelers indulge in endless pancakes.

This is no stuffy wine-and-cheese, pretentious, someone-gag-me art event. It’s an innovative reimagining of the art show concept. A welcoming vibe for up-and-coming artists to sell and strut their stuff in a free verse, anything goes environment.
